No barrier too great - not the sky, not the ocean - for Lakshmi

Lakshmi, who placed her art on the ocean floor, has also made her mark in space.
Art by Singapore-based artist Lakshmi Mohanbabu has reached places no other artwork has before — from space to 7 kilometers deep in the ocean.
Her creations, which blend artistic vision and cutting-edge engineering, have found a place on the seabed of the Pacific Ocean.
Lakshmi, who has roots in Thrissur (Kerala), set a record by placing her work at a depth of 7,000 meters beneath the sea. Working in collaboration with international scientific and technological institutions, she has installed her “Interactions” sculpture on the seabed.
This achievement places Lakshmi’s name alongside the world’s foremost artists who have made history through innovative expressions. The Singapore Straits Times and several international media have reported on her milestone.
Her Interactions art series, which symbolizes unity and shared human experience, was also sent to outer space in 2022 aboard the International Space Station — making it the first ever to connect these extreme realms: space and the deep ocean.
