ABOUT
LAKSHMI MOHANBABU
Lakshmi Mohanbabu, the polymathic artist, architect, and fashion designer from Singapore, orchestrates a mesmerizing symphony of creativity that transcends the boundaries of convention. Her artistic journey, influenced by a diverse tapestry of experiences, defies easy categorization, producing visionary works that invite contemplation. Lakshmi's art, deeply rooted in her architectural background and her early life in Soviet-occupied Afghanistan, serves as a captivating exploration of the interplay between art, culture, and technology. Her creations are more than visual delights; they are sensory experiences that beckon viewers to immerse themselves fully. One cannot help but be captivated by her ability to engage multiple senses, leaving an indelible mark on the observer's consciousness. Perhaps one of her most remarkable achievements is the voyage of two of her sculptures aboard the International Space Station, destined for The Moon by 2025, a testament to her boundless ambition and innovative spirit. This feat alone challenges our notions of where art can exist and be appreciated. Lakshmi's art is not confined to the realm of aesthetics alone; it carries a profound social resonance. Through her collaborative endeavors, she actively addresses pressing societal issues, igniting dialogues and inspiring change. Her installations are not passive; they demand interaction and introspection from the audience, creating a dynamic dialogue between the observer and the observed. In her exploration of digital immersion, Lakshmi seamlessly integrates technology into her art, inviting viewers to embark on a journey that blurs the lines between reality and imagination. Her works challenge traditional notions of art viewing, transforming spaces into interactive masterpieces. Internationally acclaimed, with displays on Singapore's grand Suntec Convention Centre screen and exhibitions in esteemed galleries, Lakshmi Mohanbabu continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression. Her art is a testament to the evolving relationship between art and the ever-changing world it seeks to reflect and shape, embodying a timeless vision that connects humanity across space, time, and borders. |
